Presently, CUCMS has the distinction of being the only medical sciences university in Cyberjaya, the Asian multimedia centre.

Right at the outset, CUCMS has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Defense (MOD), Malaysia, while it plans for another MOU with the Ministry of Health (MOH), Malaysia. These MOUs would enable the students to utilize the existing excellent health care facilities in the two ministries for their clinical training. We are the first university which has been granted a wide range of access to the excellent and as yet untapped health facilities at the MOD not only for training but also for research.

CUCMS departs from the traditional training of both doctors and pharmacists in a few ways. Firstly we believe seriously in producing practitioners who are life long learners. Towards this goal, the curriculum is very much student centered with minimum didactic teaching being done. Not only is the widely accepted problem based approach (PBL) being utilized, innovations like student centered learning (SCL), structured peer group discussion and presentation and self assessment on line learning are introduced right from the first year of study. Secondly we are very focused on the end product. With the end product of producing health professional with a passion to care in mind, students are also exposed very early on to the real world practice which they are to encounter on completing their training through the innovative Clinical and Health Exposure and Training (CHET) module from the first semester of the course itself. Thirdly we believe strong in training practitioners who will work efficiently as a member of a health care team. A lot of the academic activities are centred around a student group dynamic with a tutor closely monitoring their progress. This will inculcate team work and team spirit, respect for peers and superiors, humility, criticality and innovativeness among these students. These are qualities which are essential for practitioners of the future. The seriousness of the group dynamics is epitomized by weekly reflection sessions involving all students and the responsible tutors in each group. Students were also required filled up a log book covering not only academic matters but also non academic matters and self improvement strategies.

Besides the method of delivery, there are aspects of the core curriculums which is ‘a first'. This includes the teaching of social medicine, disaster and relief medicine and aspects of military medicine incorporating both aviation and marine medicine. Such instruction at the undergraduate level should create a group of practitioners who are not only competent with their core business of caring for the infirm, but also compassionate, empathetic and are agents of change in the society contributing towards social enlightenment. All in all the curriculum is designed to trained practitioners of the future, ever ready to use the latest there is technology can offer but maintaining human aspect of medicine in line with our motto of nurturing the passion to care. These are practitioners who will practice the science and art of medicine for the betterment of humanity at large.

The growing number of lecturers and professors in both Medicine and Pharmacy helps the planning of research activities, the establishments of international partnerships and the planning of a future postgraduate programme, apart from their customary academic commitments towards the students.

The students are divided into small groups of six or seven. Every mentor meets the group assigned to him or her, at least once a week. Not only would the mentors be able to keep in touch with the development of the mentees, but students would be able to comment on the lectures' and professors' performance as academic guides.

Open Your Heart to Love

By Dr. Tim Ong

Many people live a life without love. They cannot love themselves, and therefore they cannot love anyone else. Some even feel that they do not deserve love. The sad fact is that without love, no matter what else you have in life, it's not enough. We need to love ourselves unconditionally in order to live fully.

The love I'm referring to here is not romantic love. Love here refers to unconditional, universal love and respect for life - yours and everyone else's. We are all capable of this type of love. In fact, if we can strip ourselves of all our negative emotions, imprints and ego, what remains is pure, unconditional love. That is who or what we are underneath all the layers of impurities that we have accumulated.

The problem is that we have forgotten how to love. We have to learn to open our heart to love again.

OPEN YOUR HEART TO LOVE
There are four steps involved in opening our heart to love:

  1. Acceptance
  2. Forgiveness
  3. Expression
  4. Actions
1. ACCEPTANCE
First, we have to accept that we are capable of love - pure, unconditional, selfless love! We have to accept the need to express this form of love in our life in order to live fully.

2. FORGIVENESS
Next, we have to learn to forgive - ourselves and everyone else, especially those whom have hurt us in the past. Learning to forgive is not a choice. It is a neccesity! We need to forgive in order to heal ourselves and make ourselves whole again. If we cannot forgive, we cannot move forward. We will continue to carry old wounds and burdens with us. When we forgive, we let go of all these wounds and burdens, and instantly feel lighter and stronger to move forward.

Forgiving does not mean forgetting. It means we're willing to let go of the past and willing to give ourselves the freedom to start afresh without encumbering ourselves with the old wounds. We remember the lessons without bitterly holding on to the pain. We do not wish to blame anyone anymore. There are three types of forgiveness:

  1. Forgiving those who have hurt us
  2. Forgiving ourselves for hurting others
  3. Forgiving ourselves for hurting ourselves
To open our heart to love, we must learn to love ourselves first. To do that, we need to start by forgiving ourselves for all our shortcomings and mistakes. We need to stop blaming ourselves. We stop blaming others and circumstances. It does not mean that we do not accept responsibility for our actions. What it does mean is that we recognise our weaknesses and mistakes and wish to give ourselves another chance to make our life work for us.

TO ERR IS HUMAN, TO FORGIVE DIVINE

Forgiveness is an expression of compassion. Our compassion should not be extended to just other beings but also to ourselves. If we are not compassionate to ourselves, it is difficult to show true compassion to others. So forgive yourself!

3. EXPRESSION
Our life is an expression of all our mental and emotional imprints. All these imprints find expression outwardly in our life sooner or later. The sooner they are expressed, the more liberating it feels. Bottled up inside, the negative imprints can grow into something potentially more harmful and malignant. We need to give these negative imprints a chance to be expressed so that we can release all the pent up energies we hold inside us - energies that can manifest physically as illnesses and emotionally as fear, anger, frustration, guilt, doubt and lack of self-esteem.

Here are some suggestions on ways to express youself and transform negative, pent up energies into positive, liberating energies...

  1. Journaling
  2. Sharing with trusted friends and support groups
  3. Professional counselling or therapy

4. ACTIONS
Action here refers to actual acts of loving-kindness in our lives. Like all habits, we need to integrate this into our daily lives in order for it to become a part of us.

Here are some exercises to help generate more feeling of loving-kindness towards all beings:

EXERCISE

  1. Loving-Kindness Meditation
Generating unconditional love requires effort at first. The Buddhist's Metta Meditation is a good meditation to help generate unconditional love towards all beings.
  2. Eliminating Prejudices
Universal love is unconditional and without any bias or prejudice. If you have a certain prejudice towards certain people or race, try to make an extra effort to love them unconditionally. For example, if you are biased against Muslims in general, make an extra effort to seek out Muslim orphanages or old folks homes to give gifts during a New Year celebration or a special occasion.
  3. Perform an Unconditional Act of Love Daily
There are many things you can do daily to show your unconditional love. For example, we often do not notice the mailman, or the garbage collector. In the office, we often do not notice the tea lady and maintenance staff. Do you know who sweeps your office daily? Make an effort to know these people as a person.

The 9 Insights of the Wealthy Soul

By Dr. Michael Norwood

When my father was slowly progressing through the phases of a terminal illness, as a final legacy he revealed to me a sequence of 9 extraordinary "wealth-building" steps he nicknamed, "The 9 Insights of the Wealthy Soul."

On the surface, his lessons appeared to be about building material wealth. On a much deeper level, these insights held the secret for overcoming our greatest challenges and achieving the highest wealth of the soul.

My father, himself, had used these same insights as an army pilot-trainee to turn several near-crashes into soaring flights. Later, these insights were the means through which he would raise himself up from the devastating death of his beloved daughter - my sister.

Four years after my father's last great lesson to me, while actually writing a book on the subject, I awakened one morning perceiving a profoundly deeper significance of his 9 Insights. I suddenly understood that they are the actual stages of "TRANSFORMATION."

Whether you desire to transform a dream into reality, failure into triumph, grief into grace, or a relationship breakdown into a bridge of love and higher understanding, these universal principles are the means you can naturally accomplish your goals. Here is a summary of my father's "9 Insights of the Wealthy Soul":

Insight 1: INSIGHT
Just as a tree begins with a seed, so too, is Insight the "seed" that begins your transformation. One of the greatest insights is simply the knowledge that "You Can." You CAN overcome your greatest challenges. You CAN transform your dreams into your own living, breathing reality. You CAN create a new life for yourself and your loved ones.

Insight 2: TIMING
The saying "timing is everything" is not just a nice expression. Without developing excellent timing, you will always be fighting the natural ebb and flow of the universe. Just as most seeds sprout on a particular day in springtime, YOU can develop the ability to recognize the precise day of spring for all you do.

Whether asking for a raise, launching a business venture, or bringing up a difficult subject to a friend, loved one or business partner, your ability to recognize the often brief moments of maximum opportunity will determine how much success and balance you achieve.

Insight 3: PATIENCE
Only humans are impatient. Seeds do not attempt to turn into trees in winter. Eagles don't try to soar during rainstorms. And mayflowers do not blossom in August. Developing patience - your ability to wait for the right moment in your life cycle to accomplish a particular task or goal - is all important to develop excellent timing and great success.

Insight 4: SURRENDER
What must you do to let go of your need to control things? How can you let go of your past mistakes and history that may be preventing you from moving forward? How do you spiritually surrender to "the process?"

Without spiritual surrender, you will never be content, you will never have patience and excellent timing. You will never experience the joy and "flow" of having the greatest business and life partner you could ever possibly have: namely, "The Universe" and "God."

Insight 5: GROUNDING
With strong roots, a tree will survive any storm. When YOU create a strong foundation, your greatest efforts will withstand the many storms and challenges you inevitably face in achieving your goals.

Grounding is what you use to nourish and nurture your goals. Grounding is the books, tapes, schooling, seminars, and people you surround yourself with to support yourself in whatever you want to achieve.

Want to have a great relationship? Learn from those who already have one. Want to earn a million dollars? Read books, listen to tapes, and receive coaching by those who show you how. When you have ample "grounding" to support your dreams, the challenges that come along are merely temporary storms that ultimately make you stronger and more highly energized.

Insight 6: BALANCE
This is a tough one, especially for the most successful people. Even when a tree is well developed, without regular water, sunshine and nourishment, it will not be healthy. What must you do to balance yourself? How much sunshine do you get? How much exercise do you regularly do? How nourishing is your diet? How much quiet time do you take on a daily basis with yourself and your loved ones? Life is a balancing act. Isn't the minute, hour, day or month you save by working through your natural point of balance just another minute, hour, day or month you subtract from your lifetime?

Take breaks to smell the roses along the way, and in fact, you'll naturally discover the universe rises up to become your partner rather than it being you against the world.

Insight 7: GROWTH
Growth automatically occurs in direct proportion to your ability to empower yourself with the first 6 Insights.

Insight 8: EVOLUTION
Evolution blossoms when your growth takes you to a new and higher stage of life, unfolding a powerful Vision of your life you probably never foresaw.

Insight 9: TRANSFORMATION
Transformation occurs when you become something very different than that which you started off as. Your initial seed of Insight becomes a tree of knowledge and accomplishment. You are ready for something greater than achieving for your own personal gain.

You, the student, become the teacher, the mentor, the leader. You are the vessel of seeds to birth a new generation. You enjoy the glow of knowing you have followed your highest path that ultimately leads you to helping others follow theirs. All along, you have been transforming into a balanced, wealthy and fulfilled human being. All along, you have been transforming yourself into a "Wealthy Soul."

Dunia Sebalik Emosi

KLIK ATAS GAMBAR UNTUK MENDAPAT GAMBAR YANG LEBIH BESAR

Peredaran masa melekakan kita. Kita ingin mencapai kemajuan dengan apa
cara sekali pun.

Arena fizikal
yakni material, perkembangan minda menyeluruh yakni holistic,

erti-kata kebebasan.

Ke arah kebebasan sebenar,

Ahmad Hilmi Jaafar

Pengarah Pusat Perkembangan Emosi,

Viral States!

Dr Ardavan Shahrdar from Iran
The whole gang, Ardavan is wearing a batik shirt we bought for him and made him wear...just as well, he was only wearing a colarless white T shirt..talk about informal!
Hard at work repertorizing , Ardavan was a slave driver , made all the participants work hard to understand how to get to the remedy! Towards the end the answers were getting more and more accurate..I was pleasantly surprised for many of the participants were still studiying homeopathy.Perhaps it made it easier to accept Ardavan's ideas. Even though I could see how they were an extension of the homeopathy SH taught, some would have been put off, thinking Ardavan was trying to push down some new fangled idea..Can t teach old dogs new tricks ...hohoho

I spent last weekend at City Villa near ChowKit Market. I usually like the time I spend there because I will be with my homeopathy crowd, so different from my Medical Doctor crowd or my NGO crowd. There would be lots of jokes and good food as well as serious learning as we took in the lecturer's lessons. I also liked to 'meditate' in the stalls in front of the hotel..this time I got a few very well tailored suits for bargain prices..don t know where the shopkeepers got them from.said they were rejects or something, who cares..they were very well made!
Dr Ardavan was really good , he brought a lot of new knowledge to us , teaching a part of homeopathy that has alway proven difficult and that is, how to prescribe for the miasms which are the underlying disease states of our bodies, mostly inherited and some acquired. You will hear bits of the lectures in the video clips at the side of this page
